Description

This portable microscope was first introduced by Powell & Lealand in 1847 and remained in production for the rest of the century. It has a tripod base, a stage with a 'Turrell' type mechanism for X and Y movements, a rotatable top plate, and a sub stage condenser rack with pinions for moving a pair of plates in an arc. The eyepiece is fitted with a lever for moving a pointer across the field. There are five  objectives with six cans, a lens in a blackened copper alloy setting, seven diaphragm stops, a condenser mount, a cleaning wire and the case key. The case is mahogany.
