The engraving is glued to its paper mount at the top-left and bottom left-hand corners. The mount is folded along the right-hand edge.

Inscribed "Fredrick Accum Esq.re. / F.R.S. &c. &c." in copperplate on the front; "LONDON, Published for the European Magazine by J. Asperne, 32 Cornhill 1st July 1820" belowthe likeness; and "Engraved by J.Thomson from an original Painting by S. Drummond Esqr. A.R.A." on the bottom edge; stamped "HOPE PORT. COLLN. OXFORD." within an oval border; "duplicate in Scientific" written in pencil on the mount.
