Description

A heavy stand is connected to the curved limb by a compass joint. The body tube is mounted on the limb on rackwork for coarse focusing. The assembly is moved by two graduated knobs for fine focus. The circular rotating stage is graduated in degrees. The mechanical stage plate has two sliding brackets to hold specimens and two vernier scales. The substage assembly moves on rackwork and includes an iris diaphragm, selenite disk holder and condenser. The plano-concave mirror is held in a horseshoe mount on a post below the stage. The eyepiece is a Zeiss number four and pushes into the top of the body tube.

The instrument has a mahogany case with a key operated lock and fitted internal supports.
