Description
Collodion positive on glass (ambrotype), enclosed and cased, 1850s. Portrait of a woman, seated three-quarter length, her left elbow is resting on a table by a vase of flowers. Image has been hand tinted. Enclosed in gilt frame with oval copper alloy mat. Embedded in a crude half-case of wood covered in thin leather.
The photograph is one of three, depicting members of the same family. (Companion of Inv. 58627 and Inv. 63540).
Photograph is stored in a card box previously used to hold Ilford Ordinary Plates.
