Gelatine print mounted on card. Positive print of a photograph of an area of the sky centring on the Cluster in Perseus.
Image is enlarged 3x from an original negative taken by Professor Charles Pritchard, using the De la Rue telescope in Oxford. The De la Rue reflector was set to 120 ins. focal length, 13 ins. aperture, 30m. exposure to take this image.
The original negative and a contemporary glass positive of this photograph are also in the museum's collection. This print on paper was made a little later than the original (1885).
