Description
Carbon print printed directly on to a postcard. Portrait of Washington Teasdale, seated half length, turned to right, his head resting on his left hand. Probably a self-portrait. Pale sepia. Horizontal format. A slight sepia line half an inch above the image may represent the edge of the carbon tissue. The postcard is of the early type, used around 1900, where one side is devoted entirely to the address and the picture side is not filled by the picture but leaves a margin for a written message.
For fuller descriptive and historical commentary see narratives.
