Description

Compound microscope with case and accessories. This brass instrument The microscope is carried on trunnions stands on a tripod foot. Two mill-edged knobs at the rear of the cylindrical limb operate a rack and pinion that raises a bar, with a triangular cross section, from within the limb. The body tube is mounted on an arm at the top of the bar. A mill-headed screw on the arm operates the fine focus. The eyepiece pushes into the top of the body and objectives screw into a cylindrical nose below the arm. A panel in the side of the nose allows a prism to be inserted when a binocular body is fitted. The stage is mechanical and the movement is controlled by three milled knobs. The stage plate also rotates. Slides are held by a sprung bracket that slides on the stage plate. The Plano-concave mirror is mounted on an articulated arm set on the lower end of the limb. The fitted case is mahogany with a drawer and a box to hold accessories. The accessories are a binocular body; five eyepieces; a thread adaptor; three dark wells; a sub stage polarizer and two prisms in leather covered cases. The box has blue velvet facing the supports and padding the lid.
