Description

A compound eyepiece pushes into the top of the brass body tube, which is held in a brass sleeve. A conical nose with button objectives screws into the lower end of the body. Coarse focusing is by sliding the body vertically. The sleeve is held by an arm attached to a cylindrical pillar mounted the rear of the stage plate. A vertical screw beneath the pillar operates the fine focus. The rectangular stage plate is mounted on a cylinder on a circular, lead-weighted base. A window is cut in the front of the cylinder, near the base, to allow light to the concave mirror mounted on a spindle within. The mahogany case has green silk padding in the lid. It also contains a second nosepiece, two an eyepieces, a specimen compressor on a brass plate, and two threaded brass copper alloy collars, an ivory and ebony disc, a rubber ring, a cleaning cloth and two square metal plates.
