Description

Portrait of Guglielmo Marconi in his 40s.

Oil on canvas in a gilt frame. Head and shoulders portrait against a dark background with detail towards the lower edge. Gilt frame has been heavily glazed. The reverse of the painting reveals 6 copper alloy plates, four eye hooks, and 8 wooden keys. The back of the canvas is printed 'Reeves & Son London' Writing on the back often frame SK A J S 6 4  A US customs sticker dated 1987 is stuck to the back of the frame also the frame maker's label JJ (Patterson?), Park Walk Chelsea.
