Description
Carbon print, mounted on card. Rich chocolate brown. Portrait of Edward Heron-Allen, standing nearly three-quarter length, turned slightly to left, looking front. Heron-Allen was President of the RMS in 1916-17, which may have been the occasion for the photograph. The principal photographer for J. Russell & Sons was Walter Stoneman, but the stamp giving his name is not used. The address on the stamp is altered from 73 to 63, which occurred in 1932; a 1933 letter in the archive might imply that Heron-Allen gave the photograph to the RMS at that date. For a later photograph of Heron-Allen see 13171.
