Description

Albumen print mounted on card, cabinet format. Portrait of Sir John Scott Burdon Sanderson, head and shoulders, looking to left and slightly upwards, vignetted. Contained in a black leather-covered protective and display case with double hinged front, brass clasp, and rear support. The photograph is in as-new condition when removed from the case.

The photograph in this form is Edwardian ('Photographers to Their Majesties King Edward VII. & Queen Alexandra'), so was produced for the family of J. S. Haldane (his nephew) about the time of Burdon Sanderson's death in 1905; the photograph was probably taken in the 1880s.
