Description
Portrait photograph of E. M. Nelson seated at a table using his Powell & Lealand microscope, a microscope lamp to the right and various accessory lenses on the table.
This is the print from which the photograph was reproduced to accompany Eliot Merlin's obituary of Nelson in Journal of the Royal Microscopical Society, 1938. Eliot Merlin states there that it was taken in 1910. A variant of the photograph (30983), taken on the same occasion but with the eye open and the fingers in slightly different positions, was formerly displayed in the Museum, and is dated 1912.
Formerly enclosed loosely in the RMS album of carte de visite portraits (11837).
