Description
Glossy gelatine print on stiff paper showing a crowd of mostly young men gathered outside the entrance to the Elliott Brothers factory, Century Works, Lewisham, London, to celebrate the relief of Mafeking [Mafeking was relieved on May 17, but the official day of celebration was June 1, 1900]. A man near the centre uses a broom as a flag pole, and two little girls and a bicycle are at right. Horizontal format. Companion of 12634, a print of nearly identical format (3 by 4 inches) taken very shortly before or after.
