Description

Album or scrapbook bound in red cloth. Flyleaf + 6 unused index leaves + 50 paper leaves paginated 1-100 + second (blank) leaf numbered 99-100 + flyleaf. Consists of newspaper and magazine cuttings, a few other things, and a complete pamphlet on the Tram Chronograph, 1903. The first occupied page is dated 1887 but the cutting of that date has been removed, the first cutting being 1889, the last 1909. A 1907 cutting is loose. A letter from the donor, 1933, is pasted on the front flyleaf.

This is Jervis-Smith's own scrapbook in which he saved cuttings of reports of or mentioning his work, and his own smaller articles in newspapers and magazines, letters to the editor, etc. The signature dated 1904 implies he compiled it largely retrospectively in that year.
