Description

Carbon print mounted on card. Head and shoulders, turned slightly to right but looking front. With his signature 'Yours sincerely JWright.' pasted below (probably cut from a letter). The mount, which is very grubby, has been deliberately broken along the right-hand side (not affecting the photograph), and has attached to it a large manilla envelope and Wright's circular letter of 1895 seeking subscriptions to the English Dialect Dictionary (printed in facsimile of his handwriting).
