Description

Mounted, framed, and glazed, sitters identified in rough pencil inscriptions on backing board. They are: back, A. Hynd, F. C. Hall, Walter E. Ellis, Collins, L. Codd, G. R. Clemo; middle row, Capt E. van Wegenbergh, E. Hope, P. May, A. L. Bloomfield, Attwell, Durrens, Ranwez; front, Kenyon, Sidgwick, W. H. Perkin, John Watts, T. V. Barker. The date written on the back is '1919 ?1920', and it certainly belongs to the period 1916-19 (Wegenberg and Ranwez are wartime refugee scientists from Belgium); it could well be the first Dyson Perrins Laboratory group photograph taken after the laboratory building (behind the group) was completed in 1916.
