Description
Framed faded ink and wash drawing of the Duke of Marlborough. There is a manuscript verse and caption below image, in German, referring to the battles of Schellenberg, Hochstadt (the German name for Blenheim), and Tirlemont. The inscription implies a date of 1706, though unclear whether or not it is a later copy of a painting or print (but not much later, the hand is 18th century). There are a number of images of the Duke on horseback, the rearing horse and outstretched baton resembling several of these, though not identical.
