Large album containing 187 original drawings of the Moon by John Russell, c. 1764-1805, mostly 1787-1794, consisting of detailed drawings of small sections of the lunar surface made from actual telescope observations, captioned and dated, including some captions or annotations in shorthand; together with enclosures, including a letter from Hornsby. The drawings are dated 'about' 1764 (1, the first he ever made), n.d. (1), 1786 (1), then the majority 1787-1794, then 1803 (several), 1805 (1).
