Description

Compound microscope with accessories. This instrument copies the design of the Cuff microscope. A pillar is screwed to the Beechwood box base. A plane mirror is set at the centre of the base. The lower part of the pillar is turned and the upper part has a square cross section. The cruciform stage has a keyhole slot and two pinholes, the body tube screws into a ring carried on the pillar by a sleeve that slides for coarse focusing. A vertical screw connects this sleeve to a second one, held in place by a tightening screw, and acts as a fine focus. The body has an eye lens and a field lens. Six objective lenses are held in a rotating disk that screws onto the nose of the body. The base has a drawer for accessories. These are a fishplate and a circular spring stage and ivory slider.
