Description

This copper alloy instrument (.1) consists of a decorative octagonal pillar that screws into the folding tripod base. A horizontal arm and vertical, limb attach to the pillar via a hinge. Rack work on the limb allows the stage to be moved up and down for focusing. There is a sprung bracket beneath the stage to hold specimens. A dovetail plate with a glass disk slides into a groove on the stage. A steel pin at the lower end of the limb holds the Plano-concave mirror. A plate at the top of the stand is inscribed with the maker's name. It carries a rotating disk with seven objective lenses. The body tube screws onto this plate. The body has an eye lens and a field lens. The instrument is separated into five detached parts when stored. The fitted case (.8) is mahogany with green velvet padding in the lid. It also contains a wet cell (.2), a flat fishplate (.3), two Lieberkühn (.4) that do not fit this instrument, four ivory sliders with no specimens (.5) and a cleaning brush (.6). The case key (.7) is also contained within the case.
