Compound microscope by Dollond. The microscope consists of a square pillar which can be screwed into the base of the fitted wooden case, the objectives are fitted into a pair of discs at the top of the pillar, these can be raised or lowered by the pinion on the side. The microscope body tube can be screwed into the pillar just above the objective discs. The removable spring stage can be slotted into the hole just above the pinion, and a sub stage mirror can be fitted into the pillar close to the base. The compound microscope is stored in a fitted wooden case lined with purple felt with a yellow padded fabric lid, also stored in the box are various accessories and slides. The accessories comprise an illuminating lens, two simple liveboxes, a lens in a collar, an ivory talc box with two spare objectives inside, two copper alloy tweezers, an ivory handled needle, the head of a paintbrush, stage forceps with two black and ivory cylinders one attached to the end and one loose, four glass discs, a black and white disc, a simple glass trough, a stage clip for attaching accessories to the stage and a metal lever for adjusting the microscope pillar. There are also seven ivory sliders containing various plant, insect and mineral specimens, the mineral specimens are mounted on card rather than pressed between glass.
