Description
An example of the "Lenticular Pocket Microscope" described by Dr Golding Bird 1857. Three Coddington lenses. One glass slide and four mica squares. Inscription on microscope "M. Pillischer London No. 158." Paper label handwritten "No. 164" Wooden two hinged case, with two clasps, and covered in black leather, lined with red silk and velvet. Inside lining in gold lettering "Pillischer Optician 88. New Bond St. London" Paper stickers on outside of case "(164)" "Royal Micro. Society 164".
