Description
A cylindrical pillar stands on a circular, lead weighted base. The tubular collar, lined with black felt is attached to the top of pillar by a ball and socket joint. A screw clamp with a large thread is set to hold a vial against a window in the collar. The clamp is hollow and a mirror at the outside end that can be angled to direct light though the collar and vial. An arm, with a split ring to hold a lens, is mounted on a square rod which can focused by a double mill-edged screw. This arrangement is set in a bracket on the outside of the collar. No lens or vial are present.
