Description

This copper alloy instrument stands on a flat tripod foot. The limb is attached to the turned pillar by a compass joint. A rack and pinion on the limb moves the binocular body for coarse focusing. The eyepieces push into tubes at the top of the body that can be racked up and down to adjust the inter-ocular distance. The nose has an internal thread for objectives and a vertical screw operating on a lever on the body, moves it for fine focusing. The stage plate is mechanical and rotates. Specimens are supported on a sliding bracket. A rotating disc with three apertures is fixed to the underside of the stage. A post on the lower end of the limb carries the plano-concave mirror (.1).

The microscope is stored in a mahogany case with a internal tray for holding accessories. Each internal compartment is lined with blue felt (.5). The accessories stored in the case are: an eyepiece which pushes into the top of the microscope barrel (.2), a camera lucida (.3), three objectives, two of which are in screw top cans, third objective has Lieberkühn attached (.4).
