Description

The copper alloy pillar has a square cross section and pushes into a socket on an oval ebony base, secured by a copper alloy pin. A pinhole in the base holds the horseshoe mount for the plane mirror. A circular copper alloy plate, with a central aperture, set at the top of the pillar carries three lenses in copper alloy setting. Two lenses are mounted above the plate and one below. They can pivot over the aperture so can be used singly or in combination. The ring stage is mounted on a sliding sleeve and can be moved on the pillar for focusing. It has a pinhole for accessories and a copper alloy ring, to hold specimens, is held below the stage by springs on two screws. The accessories comprise an ivory slider, copper alloy forceps, a black and white disk, a copper alloy rod with a split hole at the end, and a copper alloy mount for stage forceps. The box is softwood covered in red leather and lined with green velvet in the base and green silk in the lid.
