Description

Pocket Botanic Microscope consisting of a base with a pillar, a lens in an eyecap and a removable plane mirror.

Base and pillar. The brass pillar has a square cross section and is fixed to one end of an oval, black stained mahogany base. An arm with a brass ring is screwed to the top of the pillar. The ring has internal and external threads to carry the lens and eyecap. The circular stage is mounted on the pillar by a sliding sleeve that allows its position to be adjusted. There is a single pinhole on the stage, adjacent to the pillar, and below two screws hold a collar on springs to secure specimens. A substage condenser lens is mounted in this collar.

Lens in a blackened brass eyecap.

A plane round mirror is set below the stage on a compass joint on the base.
