Description

The copper alloy pillar consists of two bars, held together by two sleeves, standing in a socket on the wooden box base. A scrolled strut is attached to the socket. A copper alloy ring on an arm attached to the upper sleeve supports the body tube. The sleeves slide on the pillar for coarse focusing and a vertical screw at the rear of the pillar raises and lowers the body for fine focusing. The body tube has an eyepiece, with a blackened eyecup, a field lens and the lower, narrow end of the body has an external thread to take objectives. Attached to the body tube is a Lieberkühn on a Lieberkühn carrier. The cruciform stage has a recessed stage hole, a pinhole and two keyhole slots. A concave mirror in a horseshoe mount is set at the centre of the base. The base has a drawer for accessories which include five objectives, a black and white disc on a pin, a glass disc in a collar, a wet cell and three ivory sliders. The microscope and accessories are housed inside a wooden pyramid case, with a hinged door at the front, metal keyhole and handle at the top.
