Description

Culpeper- type microscope standing on a disk with a concave mirror mounded at its centre. Three scrolled legs support the circular stage and body. The stage has a keyhole slot and a pinhole for accessories. A set of stage forceps are attached to the stage. The body consists of a draw tube that pushes into a cylinder fixed to the legs. The body has a blackened eyecup, that screws over the eye lens, and a field lens. The pyramid case is mahogany and has a drawer lined with green felt, with an ivory turned handle. The drawer contains a spring stage; a fishplate with length of green fabric; four ivory sliders with specimens wrapped in white fabric; pair of tweezers; three objectives; convex lens; ivory talc box containing specimen glasses; Scalpel and sharp point with ivory handles; two glass slides; concave lens in leather pouch; glass tube; key for box; four bits of paper containing a list of slide specimens and weather recordings.
