Description
This copper alloy instrument is carried on a compass joint on a turned pillar that stands on a folding, flat tripod base. The limb is a rectangular bar, at the top of which an arm supports a sleeve holding the body tube. A telescopic strut extends from the base to the top of the sleeve. The body can be racked up and down within the sleeve by a mill-edged knob on the side. The eyepiece has two lenses, a blackened eyecup and pushes into the top of the body. A nose that screws into the lower end of the body has an internal thread to take objectives. The rectangular spring stage has two dovetailed bars on its upper plate and a curved, pivoting arm to hold super stage accessories. Another curved arm, attached below the stage, can be positioned to hold a sub stage Plano-concave mirror or a super stage condensing lens.
The fitted mahogany case also contains two eyepieces, eight objectives, one in a can, three talc boxes, two containing mica discs and split rings, copper alloy forceps, a steel pin and scalpel with ivory handles, a magnifier set at the end of a long copper alloy tube, a Plano-concave mirror, four aperture disks and a copper alloy mount to hold them, a specimen chamber on a copper alloy plate, A frosted glass disk in a copper alloy collar, a Bonani spring stage, a large double condensing lens in a horseshoe mount on a copper alloy arm, two live boxes and a plate to mount them on, a sub stage condenser, stage forceps, four corks set in copper alloy and a holder for them, a hand lens stored in the lignum vitae setting in the case, a copper alloy can of rouge, two Lieberkühn, a small Lieberkühn in a can, a dark field condenser, a telescopic body tube, pasteboard screen, three wooden foot covers and four trays holding sixteen sliders of opaque specimens. The case has wooden fittings and is padded in the lid with brown velvet.
