Description

The Gould type body tube screws into a ring at end of the supporting arm that is screwed to top of the pillar. The pillar has rectangular cross-section, with a rack cut into one side and is inscribed with the maker's name. The stage is a copper alloy ring with a bar at one side. The bar has two pinholes for accessories and two screws secure a circular substage leaf spring to hold slides. The stage is mounted on a sleeve with a rack and pinion worked by a double mill-edged knob that moves it on the pillar for focusing. A pinhole towards the base of the pillar takes the concave substage mirror. The whole assembly screws into a boss in the centre of the lid of the box.

The accessories comprise: four objectives, a substage mirror on a horseshoe mount, copper alloy tweezers, a copper alloy annulus (diameter 31 mm with an aperture of 11 mm.), steel stage forceps in copper alloy mount, black and white ivory stage plate and two Ivory sliders with five mica windows in each.
