Description

Drum with accompanying note and envelope. Stored with old label, which reads "Cylindrical drum thought to have been used by Ernst Solvay in the original experiments on his ammonia-soda process. The cylinder axis and sodium bicarbonate sludge scraper have not been traced." Metal drum, cylindrical with one large central hole and seven surrounding smaller circles. Handwritten note with pencil diagram referring to drum. Handwritten envelope addressed to the Revd. T. Fowler / Lincoln College.
