Description
Set of 7 thermometers, glass with mercury, in wooden case covered with black cloth and lined with purple silk and velvet. Also contains paper with Smith's calibration of the thermometer against N. V. Sidgwick's standard (see 1937-38) with graph and historical note.
Made for Dr. J. C. Smith and used by him in Manchester and then at the Dyson Perrius Laboratory, Oxford; together with a manuscript sheet containing Smith's calibration and notes.
