Description

Compound microscope with case and accessories. The instrument microscope stands on a flat, folding tripod foot. The square sectioned limb is attached to the turned pillar by a compass joint. The square stage plate can be moved by a lever below it on one side and a rotating disk with three apertures is mounted on a cylinder on its underside. The stage can be racked up and down on the limb for focusing. A concave mirror is mounted in a slot in the lower end of the limb. An arm is set in a rack and pinion on a swivelling mount at the top of the limb and the body tube screws into a threaded ring on the end of the arm. The case is mahogany with a key. The accessories it holds are stage forceps, a glass phial and a bull's-eye lens on a stand with a circular base, 2 live boxes, 2 objectives in cans, cover slips in 2 boxes, cork fragment, wood fragment and pin and velvet ribbon.
