Description

In copper alloy bound polished mahogany box the accessories belonging to Ross Microscope No. 1779, probably of 1857. Included are a Field's Differential Polariscope, eyepieces, objectives, bull's eye condenser, oblique and dark-ground illuminators, live boxes, compressorium, camera lucida, spot-lenses, micro-spectroscope, injection syringe, Amici prism, analyser, Lieberkühn's, and revolving mounting stage. Some of the small boxes are engraved with the monogram "J.J. Field", to whom the microscope belonged.
