Description
Photographic print in gilt and black frame, glazed. The print is an image the Royal Microscopical Society Charter document of 1866, the original on parchment with a wax seal visible on the left hand side. Formerly displayed in the Museum. Found with a small piece of blu-tak sitting on the bottom edge which has removed the gilding on the frame to which it was attached. Also found with an old piece of paper, this has been included in this entry though it is not certain that the piece of paper actually belongs to this object. The reverse side of the frame has been backed with board and packing tape. Copper alloy eye hooks and a metal chain. A framer's label stating: 'C. D. Soar and Son Launceston Place Kensington W.8 Job No' is stuck to the reverse.
