Description

Albumen print mounted on card, framed and glazed. Portrait of James Simms, head and shoulders, turned to right but facing slightly left of front. Signed by the subject below the photograph. Vertical format. Rich purple-brown colour. 2 copper alloy eye hooks are fitted to the back wihtcopper alloy hanging wire. Printed label on backing paper of the framer John Chaundy, Ye Olde Picture Shoppe, Oxford, with picture of the Sheldonian Theatre; label inscribed 'Property of H H Turner | formerly, given to the Science Museum.'.
