Description

Wood-framed cog-wheel turning mechanism lantern slide. The mechanism is attached with 6 screws. A label reads :" No. 3 This Diagram illustrates the cause of Spring and Neap Tides, and shews the Moon's Phases during its revolution. The slide is painted to represent this. The maker's mark WH Newton is stamped into the frame. The other side of the frame has a label with the number "19". The top of the slide is inscribed 36 and "The Tides". A hook is screwed into one edge of the frame.
