Description
Wood-framed cog-wheel turning mechanism lantern slide, with colour painting illustrating the earth's rotundity with two ships sailing around the edge of the globe. The turning mechanism is attached with 6 metal screws. A label is written: "No. 5. A Diagram to prove the Earth's rotundity". The frame is stamped with W.H Newton's maker's mark. The rear of the slide has a label with the number "2".The top edge of the slide is inscribed "12" and "Rotundity of the Earth".
