Description

Albumen print mounted on card, cabinet format. Portrait of William Harvey, seated full length, turned to right but looking front, his left elbow resting on a book on a table and his head resting on his hand. An early example of the cabinet portrait, which was introduced in 1866. Except for the carte de visite 97944, this is the oldest looking (latest) of the group of 7 photographs of Harvey, which span about a decade from c.1860. The pose he adopts is similar to 69029 and 97944.
