Description

Albumen print (from a collodion glass negative), mounted on thin card (no borders). Portrait of William Harvey, seated at a table nearly full length, turned to left and looking left of front, his right elbow resting on the table and his head resting on his hand. Rich brown colour. The photograph is full-plate size (approximately 8½ by 6½ inches) and untrimmed, showing the ragged edges of the coating of the glass negative, and the photographer's inscription on the negative. It is the largest of the group of 7 photographs of Harvey, and also the only one without a photographer's name. The pose he adopts is similar to 50524 and 97944.
