Description
Stereoscopic collodion positives on glass (ambrotypes) of a marble or ceramic sculpture or figurine of a classical female nude reclining on a beast. Plain black background (showing interference colours). Black oval matts. Two separate glass plates bound together; middle strip of binding damaged. Shorter than the standard stereoscopic format. Printed maker's or supplier's label of Bland & Long. Companion of 37232; and a similar subject (but not the same) to the stereoscopic daguerreotype 72418. Versions of the figure, representing Ariadne on a panther, though sometimes entitled Voluptuousness, were produced by various ceramic manufacturers.
