Description
A beam balance with a cylindrical pillar supporting a cross beam with two suspended pans. The balance is housed in a wooden case with glass windows on all four sides. There is a small door in each side of the case to allow access to the pans. The front of the case consists of a sliding glass panel, which is on a pulley system and stops half way up the case. On one side of the case is a Bakelite panel with a dial which alters the level of eight arms within the case. There is also an angled mirror attached to the inside upper surface of the case which can be moved from side to side by a knob on the top of the case. With the balance is a power cable and metal transformer pack, a lead coming from the transformer attaches a socket for a light bulb. There is also a bracket with a hole in one end and 14 screw holes, and a cylindrical attachment with a lens.
