Description

Suitcase used by Soddy containing 3 wooden boxes of glass Lantern Slides (121 slides in total) and Sixteen card boxes of glass Lantern Slides (104 slides in total). In the suitcase there is also an envelope and three pieces of paper. Within the wooden boxes there are newspapers used for padding, two of these date from 1955 (the year before Professor Soddy's death) and the last dates from 1959. The slide boxes are marked as having been used by Professor Soddy in his lectures on radio-chemistry. The suitcase is brown leather with Aberdeen manufacturer’s label inside lid (hence purchased by Soddy when he was professor of chemistry at Aberdeen University, 1914-19, immediately before returning as professor to Oxford).
