in mahogany box
The securing screw for the horizontal bar is missing.
Gould-Type microscope, manufactured by Cary. The instrument is stored in a mahogany box with blue felt lining. The box has a copper alloy plinth with threaded hole which serves as the instruments base. A rectangular, notched pillar screws into the base. A rack and pinion operated stage is attached to the pillar. A body tube with blackened eyecup and conical shaped base inserts into the collar. The base of the conical tube has an internal thread into which objectives can be secured. Ah arm can be attached to the lower end of the body tube, this arm has a pin hole to hold a horse shoe mounted mirror.
Also present in the case are the following accessories: Three objectives, a live box, a pair of stage forceps, an ivory slider and copper alloy disc.
