Description

Lucernal Microscope, accessories, slides and case, by Cary, London. A copper alloy pillar that supports the body screws into a boss on one corner of the lid of the mahogany box. The body tube is mahogany. A copper alloy cylinder with two lenses screws into one end of the body. At the other end, rack and pinion extends a tube with a draw tube. Objectives screw into the end of the draw tube. Two telescopic stands with circular bases support the stage and an oil lamp with a bull's-eye lens. The accessories include a cotton net on a wire loop, forceps, a pin, stage forceps, a brush, small box and a glass trough. The coat of arms of the Earls of Stanhope is inside the lid.
