Description

Album containing photographs mainly of windmills, compiled by H. M. J. Underhill about 1912. There are 206 photographs altogether: 146 photographs of windmills, 8 of watermills, a group of 50 holiday photographs (at the back), and 2 self-portraits of Underhill at the beginning (page 2), together with his note explaining his motives and listing some of the contents. There are also 3 ?collotype postcards and several loose enclosures. More than half of the photographs were taken by Underhill, between 1901 and 1912, mostly in 1907 (and the holiday photographs in 1908-09); other photographs include several commercial postcards, and over 20 by J. H. Crabtree of Lancashire windmills (about 1897).
