Description

Sextant with accessories in case, by W. F. Cannon, London, late 19th century. Navigator's double arch frame sextant (37495.1); index and horizon glasses, both with sets of shades; telescope and dark tube; platinum scale, vernier with clamp, tangent screw and magnifier; handle; one foot broken off; in fitted case. The accessories are three eyepieces (37495.2), a pin with a head that unscrews (37495.3) and a cylindrical metal peg with a triangular-shaped head (37495.4). The wooden case (37495.5) has a hinged lid with a locking mechanism and hook fasteners. The underside of the lid has a pink label with the manufacturer's details and logo stuck to it.
