Description

This copper alloy instrument is carried on trunnions on a flat tripod foot. The limb has a rectangular cross section. It can be reclined and locked in place with a lever on the side of the stand. Two mill-headed knobs rack a bar up from within the limb. An arm at the top of this bar holds the binocular body and two knobs on the arm operate the fine focus. The stage has a rectangular plate with a shelf to hold specimens which is removable. Two knobs on the side of the stage adjust the position of the plate and the stage rotates. A condenser mounting is set on a dovetail plate in a slot below the stage and its position can be adjusted. A cylindrical post extends below the stage that holds the plano-concave mirror in a horseshoe mount. The microscope is stored in a mahogany case that also holds an eyepiece and a monocular body arm which can be attached to the microscope pillar instead of the binocular fitting.
