Description

The heavy copper alloy limb is supported on the tripod base on trunnions. A rack and pinion, operated by two double mill-edged knobs, extends and retracts a dovetail bar from the limb for focusing. An arm at the end of this bar supports the binocular body and objective. At the base of the arm a graduated knob operates the fine focus. The mechanical stage is graduated to show the movement of the specimen. The stage assembly also allows rotation and a graduated ring indicates the angle if rotation. A condenser is mounted below the stage, which houses a disc with twelve apertures. A cylindrical bar extending below the limb carries the plano-concave mirror in a horseshoe mount on a double articulated arm. This is stored in a wooden case which contains two smaller wooden boxes for accessories, the accessories comprise a bull's-eye lens on a stand, an eyepiece micrometer, two specimen holders mounted on copper alloy plates, a simple body tube, four objectives three in cans, three eyepieces, two dark field condensers and one condenser with a disc of apertures, a camera lucida, three Lieberkühn with protective caps, two dark wells, a selenite carrier, a Nicol prism polarizer, a fishplate, forceps, a small copper alloy stand, three small sections of body tube, two collars, two clear discs and one paper covered slide containing a fern specimen.

The accessories include, a bull's-eye lens on a stand, an eye-piece micrometer, three objectives in cans, two specimen holders mounded on copper alloy plates, a camera lucida and a Nicol prism polarizer.
