Description

The cylindrical pillar stands on a folding tripod. At the top of which the horizontal body tube is held on a compass joint. Near the pillar the body narrows to take the objective. A vertical bar, fixed to the body extends below this section and supports the spring stage and the plano-concave mirror. A Lieberkühn is fitted above this arrangement and screw with a double mill-edged knob adjusts the height of the stage for focusing. A superstage condenser is mounted on an are fixed to the body (.1).

Microscope is stored in a mahogany box with inbuilt supports lined with green felt (.13). Also stored in the case are accessories for the microscope, these are: two eyepieces which push into the barrel of the microscope (.2), two Lieberkühn designed to be attached to a cylindrical objective (.3), a field lens surround (.4), a copper alloy collar (.5), a condenser with triangular groove for attachment to stem (.6), a pair of stage forceps (.7), an ivory disc (.8), a T-shaped tool (.9), two camera obscura in cans, each can has a rotating door to obscure or open a small aperture in base of can (.10), a copper alloy cap (.11), a written letter explaining the provenance and workings of microscope (.12).
